A multiple-vehicle crash today prompted the closure of southbound Interstate 15 lanes in Escondido, according to the California Highway Patrol and fire officials.
The crash involved a tanker truck, a red sedan and a white convertible and was reported about 1 p.m. in the southbound freeway’s HOV lanes near Via
Rancho Parkway, according to the CHP.
A helicopter and three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, although the number of people taken to hospitals was unavailable, according to a
Escondido Fire Department dispatcher.
The southbound side of the freeway was closed following the crash, but as of about 3 p.m. all but the two right lanes had been reopened, according to
the CHP.
