The 14-year-old son of the owners of a Burbank day care center was detained on suspicion of sexually abusing a 4-year-old boy, authorities said today.
Police went to the Mejia Family Day Care Center in the 1300 block of Whitnall Highway on Sunday after a woman told police her son had allegedly been
sexually abused at the facility.
After a preliminary investigation, investigators from the Juvenile Detail were called in to take over the probe, said Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department.
The suspect was being detained at the Sylmar Juvenile Hall on suspicion of sexual abuse of a minor.
Investigators from the California Department of Social Services-Community Care Licensing Bureau are working with Burbank police on the case.
The parents of children attending the day care center have been notified of the arrest and are being interviewed, police reported.
