Authorities identified a Desert Hot Springs man who died when his motorcycle struck a pickup truck in Palm Springs.
Russell Olden, 56, died at the scene of the crash, reported about 4:45 p.m. Monday at Gene Autry Trail and Seven Lakes Drive, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
Olden was traveling south on Gene Autry Trail when a Toyota Tacoma pickup turned left in front of him at the Seven Lakes intersection. The motorcycle struck the pickup in the intersection, and the vehicle crashed into a home on the southeast corner of the intersection, causing a gas line to break, Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.
No one was in the home at the time of the crash.
The gas leak was stopped and the driver of the truck was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries.
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash and no charges have been filed, Kovaleff said.
