When officers and medical personnel arrived on scene they discovered a man in the roadwy on Winchester Road.

The injured man was treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital where he is being treated for major injuries, Sgt. John Magnan said is a sheriff’s report.

The skateboarder has been identified as Temecula resident Joshua Schmittou, 26.

Sandra Orlaski of Temecula was driving the car that struck Schmittou. She remained at the scene and was interviewed by investigators, Sgt. John Magnan added.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in collision.

The roads around the accident were closed for several hours while the Temecula Police Department’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation, according to a sheriff’s press release.
