Colleen Mulhall, 44, was traveling northbound on Highway 243 heading home to Pine Cove when she lost control while rounding a turn, rolled down an embankment and landed upside down about 30 feet off the highway, according the California Highway Patrol officer Ron Esparza.

Mulhall was trapped in the vehicle for approximately 30 minutes before a pedestrian walking on the road saw her and called for help.

Highway 243 was closed for over an hour while emergency crews extracted Mulhall from the vehicle.

Esparza said the crash was a suspected DUI, but that the investigation was ongoing.

The woman’s injuries are not known at this time.
