La Quinta: Homeowner answers door, robbers force their way in

A pair of home invasion robbers forced their way into a La Quinta home and fled with the resident’s property, a sheriff’s sergeant said today.

Deputies went to the home in the 51000 block of Avenidas Bermudas after receiving a call at 11:50 p.m. Saturday about what took place, Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Elders said.

The victim in the apparent home invasion robbery answered a knock at the door when the robbers forced their way in, Elders said. One of the suspects brandished a handgun as the owner was ordered to lie on the floor before they fled with an untold number of items, the sergeant said.

The suspects were described as Latinos with a medium build and who both stood 5 feet and 8 inches tall. They also wore dark clothing, Elders said. Sheriff’s authorities encouraged anyone who has information about this crime to call either sheriff’s dispatch at 760-836-3215 or the sheriff’s Thermal station at 760-863-8990.
