Big Bear ski season kicks off with help from Mother Nature

The 2012-2013 winter ski season is underway at Big Bear Mountain Resorts Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. In celebration, guests are invited to take advantage of a 50 percent discount off midweek lift tickets, along with 25 percent off lodging accommodations that will be good for the 2012-2013 winter ski season.

Mother Nature delivered snow to Big Bear on Friday, Nov. 9, and Big Bear Mountain Resorts followed up with two consecutive days and nights of snowmaking to create a base of 18 inches of snow.

“It’s always great to start the season a week or so before Thanksgiving. This could be a sign that we are in for a great El Nino winter season with lots of snow,” said Big Bear Lake Resort Association Director of Operations Rebecca Hrabia, in a released statement.

Tickets are available for purchase until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

During this window guests can purchase one or two midweek lift tickets for 50 percent off the regular rack rate of $59, which is a savings of $29.50.

To qualify for the 50 percent off lift tickets to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, guests must book at least one night lodging accommodation for arrivals during the 2012-2013 winter season (Nov. 14, 2012 – April 13, 2013).

The package deal is good for midweek overnight stays Sunday through Thursday, non-holiday and skiing or riding Monday through Friday, non-holiday.

In addition to the discounted ski lift tickets, BBLRA offers 25 percent discount on all lodging reservations.

There is a limit to two ski lift tickets per itinerary. However, more tickets may be purchased at 25 percent off the regular rate.

“What can I say? We go crazy when the snow comes!” Hrabia said. “We want to give our guests an opportunity to kick off the season on a positive note.”
