A suspected child molester died after being found unconscious in his jail cell at the Robert Presley Detention Center, sheriff’s officials reported.
In the early morning hours of Friday Nov. 9, Larry Rivers, 46, was found unresponsive by jail staff. Lifesaving efforts were initiated until emergency medical personnel responded.
The inmate was pronounced dead shortly after emergency crews arrived, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release.
“Preliminary information indicates the incident is an apparent suicide,” Chief Deputy Jerry Gutierrez stated.
Gutierrez added there is no evidence of foul play or assaultive behavior.
The investigation into the imates death is ongoing and the official cause of death is pending an autopsy and coroner’s review.
Rivers was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center of Wednesday Oct. 31 as a court remand for multiple counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14.
