What’s on for the Weekend: Santa, San Diego and Counting Crows

Santa Claus at Promenade Temecula

Forget the sleigh. Santa is set to arrive Temecula-style – in a hot air balloon, of course! Entertainment kicks off at 5:45 p.m. and the big guy will make his much-anticipated appearance at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6.

Counting Crows at Pechanga

45000 Pechanga Parkway, Temecula

Multi-platinum rock artist Counting Crows, best known for hit songs “Mr. Jones,” “Round Here,” and “Accidentally In Love,” are set to park the tour bus here in Temecula. The band’s fall tour of theater-size venues will include an 8 p.m. performance Nov. 17 at Pechanga Resort & Casino.

National award-winning youth director Jillian Stones and choreographer Sean Thomas Kiralla have teamed up with a cast of 27 kids ranging in age from 5 to 17 to bring this popular tale to life. Performances are planned for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16-17 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 17-18.

2012 San Diego Bay Wine & Food on the Bay

The 9th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival kicks off today and runs through Nov. 18 at Mission Bay. Join thousands of wine and food enthusiasts for a celebration of all things delectably gourmet.

409 COMEDY will keep it clean with a performance at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the ACES comedy club in Murrieta. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $15 per person. Alcohol and snacks are served at the club, and patrons must be 21 or older. Patrons also can bring in their own food.

Music is always happening at The Merc in Old Town Temecula. Friday’s feature good old fashioned rock ‘n roll and Saturday’s ImproVacations at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Then, it’s Classics at The Merc at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $11.
