A horse that wandered onto a roadway in the unincorporated area of Mecca was secured with the help of local authorities, the California Highway Patrol reported today.
Highway Patrol dispatchers received an 11:05 a.m. call of the animal hazard on Bellflower Avenue near Lincoln Street, an area where a lot of ranches are located, according to CHP Officer Joe Zagorski.

No accidents were reported but the horse, which was unharmed, was secured by 11:30 a.m. as Beaumont Police officers provided a hand, according to the CHP’s web site.
There was no immediate explanation as to how the horse got loose, but Zagorski said that horses and other livestock are not uncommon to the area.
