CHP officers responded to the right shoulder of I-15 at Rancho California Road along with officers from the Temecula Police Department.

Investigations revealed 23-year-old Dominique Reliford of Lake Forest arranged to purchase marijuana from Temecula resident Miguel Rosales, 20, near Yukon and Rancho California roads.

Rosales felt Reliford short-changed him and began chasing him after Reliford sped off in his vehicle, officials said.

Rosales and his passenger 19-year-old Gualberto Nino-Cruz caught up to Reliford at the intersection of Overland and Ynez roads.

They got out of their car and began assaulting Reliford as he sat in his car, Sgt. Steve Fredericks stated in a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release.

“Rosales and Nino-Cruz caused severe damage to Reliford’s vehicle, and stole items from within the vehicle during the assault,” Sgt. Fredericks added.

The chase continued until Reliford’s car broke down on the Rancho California Road on-ramp at I-15.

CHP officers arrived on scene and quickly detained the three men.

A search of both vehicles revealed two ounces of marijuana and stolen property, Fredericks said.

All three men were booked into the Southwest Detention Center on numerous charges.

Anyone with further details regarding this incident is urged to contact the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3000.
