Desert Hot Springs house fire rips through bedroom

Firefighters doused a fire that charred half of an unoccupied single-story home during the predawn hours today in Desert Hot Springs, spokeswomen said.

No one was hurt, or displaced, during the blaze that was reported at 5:34 a.m. and occurred in the 66000 block of Yucca Drive, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

A cause was not determined but Hendrickson said firefighters contained the flames to a bedroom and the living room. Damages were estimated at $20,000.
