Starting today, Palm Springs International Airport is offering extra parking and terminal shuttle service to help handle the Thanksgiving travel rush.

The airport’s Economy Lot on Kirk Douglas Way opened early this morning and parking is $10 a day for overnight travelers. Free shuttle transportation is available from the lot to the main terminal until 9 p.m. today, 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Service back to the Economy Lot will be available through midnight on Nov. 27, city spokeswoman Amy Blaisdell said.
Blaisdell said the airport is opening the lot to accommodate an increase in visitors to Palm Springs during Thanksgiving.
She said travelers should arrive at least 90 minutes before their flights to allow enough time to park, check in and go through security.
The airport is at 3400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.
