Police: Temecula man arrested for robbing local bank

A man suspected of robbing the U.S. Bank inside of a Vons grocery store in Temecula on Sunday Nov. 18 was arrested in connection with the case, officials confirmed.

Investigators alerted the Temecula Police Department that the suspect may be staying at a motel in Old Town Temecula.

Officers spotted the suspect in a parking lot near the motel just after 1 a.m. on Monday Nov. 19, Sgt. K. McDonald stated in a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release.

After a short foot chase, officers detained 20-year-old Matthew Rey of Temecula.

Rey was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on robbery charges.
