Hemet: Chiropractor accused in sexual assault of patients

A Hemet chiropractor suspected of sexually assaulting at least two of his patients was released from jail today after posting a $500,000 bond.

Dr. Jeffrey Richard Marrs, 46, was arrested around 11 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of multiple acts of sexual battery on a restrained party and sexual penetration of a victim by force, according to Hemet police.

He was taken into custody without incident at his office, Lifestyle Chiropractic & Wellness, 2091 W. Florida Ave., and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, from which he was released this morning.

Hemet police Lt. Duane Wisehart said detectives received reports of alleged illegal activity at the doctor’s office last month and initiated an investigation.

“The offenses were reported to have occurred at Dr. Marrs’ place of business, and there is more than one victim,” Wisehart said. “It is believed there may be other victims of Dr. Marrs’ criminal activity.”

Anyone with information was encouraged to call the Hemet Police Department at 951-765-2422.
