According to MSN Money, over 60 percent of us want gift cards this holiday season. So, instead of purchasing gift cards with significant fees, residents are invited to buy gift cards to their favorite restaurant, store or entertainment destination from the Habitat ReStore.

Great Lakes Scrip Center has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley to purchase large amounts of Scrip from grocery stores, department stores and other retailers.

“Scrip is a term that means money, so when you purchase Scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift cards and prepaid cards that can be used like cash,” said Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Executive Director Tammy Marine in a released statement.

Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount.

Habitat and other non-profit organizations purchase this from Great Lakes Scrip Center and sell the gift cards with no additional sales convenience, activation fees or taxes.

“Shoppers can use Scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, entertainment, gas and other essentials. With every purchase of a gift card, Habitat for Humanity receives a percentage to help us continue our mission to improve living conditions for those in our community. It’s an excellent way to support a nonprofit and due to the lack of activation fees, may even save you money,” Marine said.

Gift cards can be purchased at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations in Temecula and Lake Elsinore.
