Head-on crash near Lake Elsinore Outlets injures three people

A mid-morning head-on collision closed Nicolas Road near the Lake Elsinore Outlets in both directions while fire crews extricated one of the victims and cleared the scene, officials reported.

According to a Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman, the accident was first reported at 10:03 a.m.

Witnesses on the scene reported a black Ford Mustang and a black Volvo S60 collided trapping a woman in one of the vehicles.

Fire crews extricated the woman and she was transported to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries, a Fire Captain reported. He added two victims from the other car suffered minor injuries.

Nicolas Road is expected to be re-opened at around 12:15 p.m., officials stated.

    A traffic signal need to be installed at the intersection of Nichols Road & Collier. This is probably the first of many accidents that will occur until a signal is there.
