The Lake Elsinore Storm will receive Mayan Grand Elder Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj, a.k.a. “Wandering Wolf,” at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore on Dec. 17 to learn more about Mayan history and what Dec. 21, 2012, truly means.
The event is also a recognition of Wandering Wolf’s tradition and the positive change he is promoting toward world peace.
“We aren’t taking any chances with this 2012 End of the World stuff, so we invited the leader of the Maya to our ballpark to help explain the full story,” said Storm President Dave Oster. “We wanted to find out what 2012 is all about and discovered Wandering Wolf is the expert on the topic. He offered us a different story than what is being portrayed in the media and we found him a very inspirational guy with a cool story.”
In support of Wandering Wolf’s positive message about the time we are entering, the Storm is going to follow his lead and create a program which encourages positive social change called PLAY IT FORWARD. This promotion will encourage other sports teams, businesses and individuals to work together within their community to create fun valuable programs that inspire the restoration of Mother Earth for our future generations.
Grand Elder Wandering Wolf has traveled the world for decades encouraging unity and non-violence within all societies. He will visit California in December as a Dignitary from Guatemala to support his documentary titled “Shift of the Ages.”
“Wandering Wolf’s story in Shift of the Ages is pretty convincing,” commented Oster. “So we thought this is a no-brainer to host him at our stadium during such a controversial and influential time to get the real scoop on 2012. Plus, he’s an amazing man and deserves the recognition for his remarkable work and story.”
An important part of Grand Elder Wandering Wolf’s mission is to meet, exchange with and help support Native American communities. The Storm is assisting his effort by offering the stadium’s Diamond Club restaurant as a place of cultural exchange.
The free event, which will be open to the public, begins at 5 p.m. on Dec. 17, with a social mixer and a talk by Wandering Wolf.
The Lake Elsinore Storm is the Class A-Advanced Minor League affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
The 2013 season, which also is a celebration of the Storm’s 20th season, opens at home on April 11.
