Corona man arrested on suspicion of underaged sex

A 43-year-old Corona man suspected of sexually abusing multiple girls was arrested Thursday.

Paul Ronald Iturzaeta was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of rape of a minor under the influence of drugs or alcohol, statutory rape, sodomy and other sex-related allegations.

According to Corona police, officers were alerted on December 5 to a possible inappropriate relationship between Iturzaeta and a 15-year-old girl.

The ensuing investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly having sex with the minor and her 17-year-old sister — the latter for at least two years, police said.

Detectives found the suspect at the Holiday Inn Express off Interstate 15 and Circle City Drive in Corona.

“At the time of his arrest, he was in the company of his 16-year-old daughter and two additional female minors,” according to a Corona police statement.

Iturzaeta was arrested without incident and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, where he’s being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

According to Riverside County court records, Iturzaeta was convicted in April 2009 of misdemeanor disturbing the peace, to which he pleaded guilty as part of a pretrial settlement with the District Attorney’s Office.

He had originally been charged with annoying or molesting a minor. Corona police said the case stemmed from contact the suspect had with a 13-year-old girl in May 2008.
