Traffic on the north and southbound lanes of I-15 freeway was halted for a brief time after a solo vehicle crash.
The rollover crash involving a white sedan occurred at about 5:15 p.m. on Saturday on the southbound I-15 freeway, just north of Diamond Drive near Lake Elsinore.
“The vehicle was traveling in the number one lane, according to two witnesses between 70-80 mph, when for unknown reasons, (the driver) just veered from the number one lane, across all lanes of traffic … and ran off the road,” said California Highway Patrol officer Brian Keene.
Keene noted that witnesses said the vehicle did not slow down before running off the road and rolling into a brush area.
Two occupants were trapped in the vehicle and were rescued by fire department personnel.
Both suffered injuries that Keene described as minor to moderate.
Keene said that alcohol or drugs was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
An investigation is underway.
