Just before 4:30 p.m. on Friday Dec. 7, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to reports of a sexual attack that occurred last month in Temecula.

Investigators learned that on Saturday Nov. 17, the female victim and the suspect attended a party together at a home in the 29000 block of Solana Way.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report, 31-year-old Joseph Eric Moorhead of Temecula offered to walk the victim home as she was leaving the party.

As they walked towards the woman’s home, Moorhead began making sexual advances towards her and she refused.

“The suspect then pushed the victim out of sight behind a building and sexually assaulted her,” Sgt. K. McDonald said.

Investigators identified and located Moorhead who was subsequently arrested.

He was booked into the Southwest Detention Center on rape charges, a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release stated.

Anyone with additional details regarding this incident is urged to contact Investigator Topete with the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3000.
