A man suspected of breaking into a marijuana collective business has been arrested, officials reported.
Deputies arrived at a strip mall just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday Dec.11 in the 69700 block of Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage regarding a commercial burglary.
Law enforcement officials determined a male suspect entered the Spot Collective and stole merchandise in addition to breaking into a ATM machine inside of the store, Sgt. Brad Farwell said in a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release.
Investigators discovered information linking La Quinta resident John Schiavone, 29 to the robbery. Members from the Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit tracked Schiavone to the 53600 block of Avenida Alvarado where he was detained.
Sgt. Farwell said items taken from the break-in where found in Schiavone’s possession and he was subsequently arrested.
The stolen merchandise was returned to the owners of the Spot Collective.
Schiavone was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on charges of commercial burglary, possession of stolen property and committing a felony while on bail.
