The air will be sprinkled with Christmas tunes when the Southwest Women’s Chorus takes to the stage at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater at the 13th annual “Christmas in the Air” concert.
The holiday performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 15 and 2 p.m. on Sunday Dec. 16.
Rehearsals for the holiday-inspired performance began in Sept. and the choral director promises a mix of many styles of holiday songs.
“We will have traditional and contemporary carols, gospel songs, traditional Christmas songs and audience sing-a-longs,” Chorus Director Bill Paisner said. “This is always a very popular event.”
The show will feature 36 singers perched on risers amid a festive theater setting.
Paisner said one highlight of the show that has everyone buzzing is the classic song Ava Maria by Gustov Holst sung in a double chorus that is slow and beautiful with “eight parts interweaving.”
There will also be solos and duets to compliment the ensemble.
Paisner says that along with having a lot of fun and upbeat songs, the chorus will also sing moving pieces to add to the spirit of Christmas.
“We even have a section that will be all about Christmas desserts,” he explained with a chuckle.
Paisner, who is also a voice and piano teacher, has been directing choruses for almost 50 years and says he always looks forward to the Christmas show.
Ticket prices are: $16 for adults, $13 for senior & military and $9 for students.
Tickets will be available through the Old Town Temecula Theater website, at the theater box office in the Mercantile located at 42051 Main Street Temecula or by calling 866-653-8696.
