The Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation is gearing up for an exciting annual Gala that will honor MSJC’s 50th anniversary by featuring performances by alumni who have gone on to work in the performing arts.
Brent Howard and Ron Murray are among the alumni who will perform at the 5th annual MSJC Foundation Gala – Golden Jubilee – on Feb. 9, 2013 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula.
Howard played Alessandro in the Ramona Pageant in the mid-1990s, has been in national commercials and films, had a singing career in Nashville and is currently the operations manager for Jabbawockeez, a dance crew that performs in Las Vegas.
Murray is a beloved long-time theaters arts instructor at Hemet High School and has performed throughout the San Jacinto Valley in productions like “South Pacific” at the Ramona Bowl Amphitheater and much more.
The annual Gala is the Foundation’s signature event to raise funds for student scholarships, faculty mini-grants and programs at MSJC. Each year, the Gala offers an evening of fun with an elegant meal, live music, dancing and a silent auction.
Generous donors like the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, Southern California Edison, LPA Inc. and the guests who attend help benefit the students at MSJC.
In addition to performances by featured alumni, the Foundation will present its Alumni & Friends awards to alumni, community members and staff who have made a difference for MSJC and its students.
This year’s theme is the Golden Jubilee in honor of the five decades of higher education Mt. San Jacinto College has provided to the communities it serves. Voters approved forming MSJC in 1962 and doors opened in 1963.
The 1,700-square-mile college district runs from Temecula to the San Gorgonio Pass and includes Menifee, Perris, Lake Elsinore and Idyllwild.
Gala guests will be able to take a tour of the Walking Timeline, which showcases the past, present and future of MSJC. A silent auction will include gifts ranging from airline tickets and Dodger tickets to golf and spa packages. The MSJC Menifee Jazz Ensemble and other entertainment will delight the audience.
This is an exciting opportunity to reunite with old friends or make new ones.
The MSJC Foundation Gala will be held at 6 p.m. at the Pechanga Resort 45000 Pechanga Pkwy. in Temecula.
Tickets are $150 per person. Sponsorship levels start at $2,500. For more information, call 951-487-3171 or visit www.msjc.edu/gala.
