A neighbor who caught a man and a 17-year-old boy burglarizing a Palm Desert home was punched in the face as he confronted the suspects, authorities said.
The witness noticed his neighbor’s front door open Friday and walked up to see what appeared to be two men inside the home in the 77100 block of California Drive.
The witness was assaulted by the fleeing suspects. The extent of his injuries was not reported.
Sheriff’s deputies received a call at 11:07 a.m. about the break-in and later found Brian Scott Fogarty, who was arrested on suspicion for burglary, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Radek Horkel said.
The second suspect, a teen-aged boy, was also found, arrested and booked into juvenile hall, Horkel said.
Fogarty, 42, of Sky Valley, was released from custody Saturday after posting $35,000 bail, records show.
