A homeowner called authorities after he found a military grenade in his garage, it was reported today.

Officers from the San Jacinto Police Department arrived at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 19 at a home in the 300 block of Greenville Road.
The homeowner told officers the grenade most likely belonged to the previous homeowner, who was in the military.
The Hazardous Device Team was called in and the grenade was secured, Sgt. Larson said in a sheriff’s report.
“The San Jacinto Police Department would like to remind all citizens to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity, including any vehicles or persons to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department,” Sgt. Larson advised.
