Man trapped in car following crash in Moreno Valley

A motorist was trapped inside his car and injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 215 in Moreno Valley today, a fire spokeswoman said.

The crash was spotted at 3:26 a.m. on the southbound 215 Freeway south of Cactus Avenue.

Firefighters used a hydraulic tool to pry open the mangled wreckage and free the occupant, Riverside County Fire spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash was under investigation, Hendrickson said.
