Moreno Valley: Car crashes into ambulance, three injured

Three people, including a California Highway Patrol officer, were injured when a car struck an ambulance at the scene of a crash in Moreno Valley today, a CHP officer said.

The first crash, which involved one vehicle, was reported around 7:20 a.m. on westbound State Route 60 at the Perris Boulevard offramp. The offramp was closed and a CHP officer and ambulance were sent to the scene, CHP Officer Steve Carapia said.

About 30 minutes after the first crash, 20-year-old Buena Park resident Shin Yuna lost control of her Toyota sedan and the car went across lanes, striking the ambulance, Carapia said.

“During the impacts, the ambulance struck an officer and a bystander who were standing next to it,” Carapia said.

Yuna and the bystander suffered major injuries, and the officer received moderate injuries. All were transported to local hospitals, Carapia said.

The crash was under investigation.
