An Idyllwild man who allegedly attacked two seniors as they gassed up their vehicle, and subsequently struggled with deputies during his arrest, remained jailed today, records show.
Alfredo Tartaglia, 26, was arrested and booked Saturday for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse in connection with the attack that unfolded at an Idyllwild gas station in the 25000 block of Highway 243, jail and sheriff’s records show.
Tartaglia remained behind bars today with bail set at $25,000.
The senior men, who were in their 60s, were treated for moderate injuries they suffered during the attack late Saturday afternoon. Tartaglia’s alleged victims did not know him, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. John Morin said.
Tartaglia allegedly fled but an investigation led sheriff’s deputies to name him as the suspect. Deputies went to Tartaglia’s home where a brief struggle ensued before he was arrested, Morin said.
