What’s on for Tonight: New Year’s Eve celebrations

Here we are, Southwest Riverside — the last day of 2012! If you’re in the mood to celebrate, here is a quick look at some of the fun ways you can ring in the New Year:

Carol’s at Baily Winery is offering a celebration for early birds from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 31. Guests will dine at Bacchus Hall and dance to the music of Fandango. A four-course dinner includes complimentary glass of champagne. Cost is $40 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Call 951-676-9243 for reservations.

The Festival of Lights at Riverside’s historic Mission Inn will welcome the New Year with a dramatic fireworks display, balloon drop and confetti storm with champagne toast at the stroke of midnight. The fun kicks off at 9:30 p.m.

Ice Skating at Temecula Town Square will run from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Cost is $15 for three and a half hours of skating. Skate rentals are $5. No reservations are required. Admission is offered on a first come, first served basis.

The Legendary Mustangs, led by Riverside County Board of Supervisor John Tavaglione, are slated to take the stage for the Fender Center for Music Education’s annual New Year’s Eve party between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

Dubbed “New Year’s Eve On The Square,” December 31 will be filled with live bands, ice skating, arts, crafts, dancing, and two — count ‘em — two drops of the giant, one-of-a-kind illuminated grape cluster in front of City Hall in Temecula. The first drop is planned for 9 p.m. and the second at midnight.

Pechanga Resort & Casino is hosting a Disco-themed extravaganza throughout the resort, culminating with a rousing New Year’s Eve performance by The Pointer Sisters beginning at 8 p.m. at the Showroom Theater.

Professor Pennypickles is inviting Temecula kids to come out and celebrate the New Year with a party from 11 to 12:30 p.m. at the Temecula Children’s Museum. This event may have already filled up, so be sure to call first at 951-308-6376 or visit the website for upcoming festivities that the children will love.

Ponte Winery will keep it quiet and romantic with an intimate New Year’s Eve dinner celebration from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Call 951-252-1770 for reservations.

South Coast Winery Resort & Spa will treat patrons to the Fire & Ice New Year’s Eve event, featuring a four-course wine & food pairing dinner, along with live entertainment. Guests are invited to “chill” for a while – overnight stay packages are available. The party is planned for 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Call 800-730-5042 to reserve your spot.

“The Voice’s” Lee Koch will perform beginning at 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Crush and Brew located at 28544 Old Town Front Street in Temecula.

Thornton Winery will ring in the New Year with a delectable gourmet meal from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 31. Call 951-699-0099 for more information.

Wiens Family Cellars will transport guests to “The Great Gatsby” era when its Event Pavilion is transformed into a 1920s speakeasy.  The party is planned for 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 31. Welcome the New Year at this after-dinner event that includes dancing, appetizers and more.

Wilson Creek Winery is offering Jet-Setting Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Celebration from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 31. Guests will wrap around the world without ever stepping foot on a plane, train or automobile. Cost is $160 per person, plus gratuity and tax and includes a four-course dinner, a hosted wine and champagne bar pouring only the finest and the chance to groove to the electric, funky, soul sounds of Sibling Rivalry.
