A customer at a Starbucks became combative with first responders after falling asleep in his chair, officials reported today.

According to Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesman Albert Martinez, customers noticed the man had fallen asleep in his chair and then slipped onto the floor shortly after noon today at the Starbucks coffeehouse located at Collier and Central Avenue in Lake Elsinore.
The man awakened, began slurring his words and became combative with firefighters who had responded to the incident.
Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene to assist, Martinez said.
The man, who was not identified, was determined to require medical attention and was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Alcohol was not considered a factor at the time of this report.
It is not known if any responders suffered any injuries.
