Five members of the Riverside Fire Department were promoted and lauded for their professionalism, a spokesman said Sunday.
Fire Capt. Steve McKinster was promoted Friday to Battalion Chief and is expected to oversee five stations that serve neighborhoods that include the eastside and Canyon Crest areas, Riverside Fire Department spokesman Mitch Wesche said.
Along with McKinster were fire engineers Ray Mendoza and Mike Estrada who both ascended to the rank of captain. Mendoza, who is also an arson investigator, was assigned to the La Sierra South Fire Station. Estrada is expected to work out of the Magnolia Center Fire Station, Wesche said.
Firefighters Mark Thompson and Denise Delgado were promoted to the position of fire engineer. Thompson was assigned to operate a fire engine at the University Fire Station and Delgado was assigned to work out of the Arlanza Fire Station, Wesche said.
Riverside Fire Chief Steve Earley said the opportunity to promote all those who worked hard toward exceeding expectations in the arena of public safety was one of the most ”rewarding duties of his position.”
