Suspected car thieves arrested in Thermal

An Oasis man and a Thermal boy were arrested today for allegedly stealing a car, authorities reported.

A red 1998 Kia sedan was reported stolen at 12:15 p.m. near Avenue 70 and Pierce Street in Thermal.

Deputies determined the stolen car had been driven into a nearby area with heavy brush, sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Castro said.

Deputies staked out the area and CHP aircraft searched for the suspects.

The car was found, and Mario Sandoval, 26, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested, Castro said.
