Fun, fitness planned before Humana Challenge golf tourney

A walk and fair will be held Saturday at La Quinta Community Park in connection with the Humana Challenge golf tournament.

The Humana Well-Being Walk will be preceded at 7 a.m. with a warm-up led by certified fitness trainer Alisabeth Stephens of the Desert Recreation District. The 5 3/4-mile walk on Bear Creek Trail will begin at 8 a.m. The trail includes four rest stops, with snacks and drinks at each one, tournament officials said.

The Humana Healthy Fun Fair will begin at 9 a.m.

It will include live music, carnival games, a rock climbing wall and open access to the La Quinta Community Fitness Center, according to tournament officials.

The Humana Challenge will be held Jan. 17-20, preceded by pro-ams Jan. 14 and Jan. 16 and practice rounds Jan. 14-16.
