Officers arrived just before noon on Tuesday Jan. 8 to a residence in the 25000 block of Via Kannela.

The reporting party told officers a strange car pulled up to a home and an African-American male got out of the car and hopped the fence into the backyard.

According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bright, the suspect gained entry into the garage and opened the garage door.

“A second suspect was able to drive their car into the garage,” Sgt. Bright stated.

The two men then shut the roll-up door.

As several officers arrived, one of the suspects opened the door.

Moreno Valley resident Mondre Williams, 20, was immediately detained.

The driver of the car, 19-year-old Marcus Weatherspoon also of Moreno Valley was arrested a short time later. Weatherspoon was on county probation for additional theft related charges.

A search of the suspect’s car revealed property that was taken from the victim’s house.

Both men were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of residential burglary and possession of burglary tools, Sgt. Bright added.
