A 22-year-old teacher’s aide who allegedly sexually assaulted a female student was being held today in lieu of $1 million bail.
Steven Michael Martinez of Norco was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of a minor and sending pornographic material to a child. He’s being held at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

Corona police allege Martinez befriended a 13-year-old girl at a school in the Corona-Norco Unified School District and began communicating with her electronically, primarily through social networking websites and text messaging.
The content of the messages allegedly included explicit sexually-oriented pictures and language, according to police.
The inappropriate contact eventually escalated to an alleged sexual assault, though investigators did not disclose the circumstances.
The alleged victim’s parents discovered the text messages, triggering an investigation that culminated in Martinez’s arrest Tuesday afternoon at Garretson Elementary School, 1650 Garretson Ave., in Corona.
His employment status following his arrest was not immediately known.
Anyone who might have information related to the case was urged to call Corona police Detective Andy Bryant at 951-817-5739.

There a millions of qualified teachers with credentials that are out of work, they should get rid of aids, they do not have any formal training and no formal education. It’s ridiculous! Replace them with certificated teachers!
It doesn’t matter if they did get rid of the aides because teachers have done the same thing so why not get rid of them too and just home school the students! Also, aides do get trained and are educated but it doesnt even have anything to do with what or why this happened…just sayin
