Sheriff’s deputies today were investigating the discovery of what could be a shallow grave in a remote area of the Angeles National Forest.
The investigation was being conducted near mile marker 2.92 near Big Tujunga Canyon Road.
“It appears to be a shallow grave, but we don’t know for sure at this point,” said sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.
There was no immediate indication of any human remains being found, according to broadcast reports from the scene.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were sent to the scene of the excavation, which was apparently discovered by hikers overnight.
