Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Cathedral City

A car struck and killed a person just before sunrise today on Highway 111 in Cathedral City, a police sergeant said.

Officers got a call at 6:10 a.m. and found a car blocking the eastbound lanes of Highway 111, not far from Boomer’s family entertainment center on East Palm Canyon Drive, Cathedral City police Sgt. Ed Colon said.

The pedestrian died as officers arrived.

The car was being driven east on Highway 111, Colon said.

Eastbound lanes were closed for several hours for the investigation.
