Desert Hot Springs: Elderly woman hit and killed by car identified

An 85-year-old pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car in Desert Hot Springs was a local resident, coroner’s officials said today.

Anna Bilous died at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 9:15 p.m. Sunday Jan. 13 in the 14500 block of Palm Drive, according to police and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

A Toyota Avalon traveling north on Palm Drive struck Bilous as she crossed Palm Drive, Desert Hot Springs police Cmdr. Dan Bressler said.

The driver, who stayed at the scene, did not show any signs of driving under the influence and cooperated with the investigation, according to Bressler, who said no charges were pending.

Lanes from Avenida Campanero to Park Lane were closed in both directions for several hours, he said.
