A Palm Desert man suspected of stealing more than $16,000 worth of jewelry from a Rancho Mirage residence was behind bars today.
Justin Price, 32, was arrested at 2 a.m. Saturday at a Rancho Mirage hotel in the burglary, which was reported about 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 36600 block of Palmdale Road, sheriff’s Sgt. Brad Farwell said.
The suspect got away, but authorities later watched Price and linked him to the burglary, Farwell said.
“Based on the surveillance operation, it was discovered that after Price committed the residential burglary in Rancho Mirage, he sold the stolen jewelry to a subject in Thousand Palms,” Farwell said.
Authorities recovered the stolen jewelry at a Thousand Palms residence and returned it to the victim, he said.
Price was booked at the county jail in Indio, where he was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail. He was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday at Indio’s Larson Justice Center, according to jail records.
