With an open YouTube casting call, the Storm management is sitting back, waiting to see who will attempt to be the next big thing in Southern California Minor League Baseball.

“If you’ve been to a Storm game, (you know) we have multiple characters making appearances throughout each inning,” said Storm Assistant General Manager Tracy Kessman.

“Between the seasons, we’ve had varying staffing changes that we need to fill. It’s our staff that makes all of the between-inning antics work for the fans, and this will be a paid, hourly position.”

According to Kessman, there will still be familiar faces out there revving up the crowd.

“We’re looking not only to fill the spots that were left and enhance the existing characters — what we really want is some new and unique character ideas,” Kessman said. “A person who can truly get the crowd going.”

Posted on the Storm baseball website, the management office is hoping to be wowed with the YouTube auditions on their online casting call.

Entrants should appear dressed as the character of their choice—either existing or brand new—in a 30-second video. All links should be sent via e-mail to: promos@stormbaseball.com.

According to Kessman, the final pick will take place after the contestants’ live auditions.

“We’ll review the video submissions, narrow the field down to five or ten of the most impressive, and then invite the contestants down to Storm Stadium to get a feel for the field, the lights, the sounds, the enormity of it, and have final tryouts.”

When asked if they were looking for just one, or a team of characters to join the crew, Kessman suggested the Storm is open for new ideas.

“It just depends what we find, and what crazy antics folks can come up with. We are looking forward to seeing how the talented people of this area can add to the craziness of Storm baseball.”

Submissions for entry are due by Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2013

Opening day at the Lake Elsinore Diamond is April 11, 2013.
