A Hemet teenager who was violently stabbed has died as a result of his injuries, law enforcement officials confirmed today.
Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault call just before 5 p.m. on Monday Jan. 14 near the intersection of Acacia Avenue and Cherrywood Drive in East Hemet.
Arriving officers and medical personnel discovered a 16-year-old boy who had sustained numerous stab wounds, Sgt. Erikson said.
Eric Ronald Sargeant, Jr was immediately transported by air ambulance to Riverside Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries several hours later.
Witnesses reported to detectives they saw three or four Hispanic males dressed in dark clothing attack the victim and then run away through a vacant field, Erickson added.
