Update: Suspect in Coachella stabbing turns himself in

Update:  Riverside County Sheriff’s officials announced the man suspected of stabbing another man during a fight has turned himself in.

The suspect was identified as, Sean Edward Patton, 22-years-old of La Quinta.

Patton was transported and booked into the Indio Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, Sgt. Rameriz stated in a sheriff’s report.

 

Original Story: A scuffle inside of a residence resulted in one person suffering numerous stab wounds, officials reported today.

Officers from the Coachella Police Department responded to an assault call with a deadly weapon call at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 15 in the 84700 block of Avenue 52 in Coachella.

Investigators learned the victim and the suspect got into a fight inside the residence prior to the knife attack.

“The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries,” Sgt. Rameriz stated in a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release.

The suspect is described as an African-American adult, approximately 22-years-old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 145 pounds.

He was seen driving a red Mercury Mountaineer.
