Children rescued from San Jacinto home, woman suspected of child abuse

Three children were removed from a San Jacinto home after Child Protective Services alerted police that the children were possibly being abused and neglected, official reported.

Officers went to a residence on Wednesday Jan. 16 located in the 1800 block of Hawthorne Street and arrested Shameeka Smith, 36 and her live-in boyfriend Orlando Simpson.

Smith was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on charges of inflicting corporal punishment and willful harm to a child, Sgt. W. Clear stated in a sheriff’s report.

Simpson was arrested for a pre-existing parole violation.

Sgt. Clear added that the victim and two siblings were removed from custody of Smith and placed in a safe environment by Child Protective Services.
