Riverside man fatally shot in car

Investigators today were seeking witnesses to a fatal attack on a Riverside man shot outside his home.

The shooting happened shortly after midnight Thursday in the 3500 block of Franklin Avenue, in the city’s Eastside enclave, according to police.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was apparently preparing to leave for work and had just gotten into his vehicle when unidentified suspects approached him and opened fire, shooting him multiple times, said Sgt. Dan Russell.

“The motive for this shooting is unknown,” he said.

The victim was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital and initially stabilized but succumbed to his injuries Thursday night, according to Russell.

Anyone with information was urged to call Detectives Rick Cobb or Rick Wheeler at 951-353-7135 or 951-353-7134.
