As a parent of two sons I applaud Lake Elsinore United School District and its Parent Project. During the teen years it can be difficult as a parent to understand your role. Balancing the desire to allow your teen to grow and the responsibility to keep them safe and on the right track. When my sons were teens they BOTH totaled a car within six weeks of each other. While the crashes cost us money, I feel fortunate that no one died or was permanently injured. In Minnesota they have recently implemented a parent/teen Awareness Program that helps parents better understand their role in the driver’s training process. At DriveSafeRideSafe they offer resources to parents with teens to give them the tools they need to keep their teens alive behind the wheel. As a School District interested in helping parents, this might be a really good resource for the parents of your students.
