Sour words lead to shooting in San Jacinto

Two men exchanged words with a man outside his San Jacinto home, shot him several times and ran, the sheriff’s department reported today.

The suspects remained at large following the attempted murder, which took place at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North Victoria Avenue.

Witnesses saw the men approach the victim in his front yard moments before the shots were fired at, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The victim, described as a man in his 20s, was hit by an unspecified number of gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital and was expected to survive his injuries, sheriff’s officials said.

The suspects were described as Latino men in their late teens or early 20s who ran west on North Victoria Avenue. A motive behind the shooting was not disclosed.
