The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges against one adult and two juveniles in connection with the stabbed death earlier this month of a 16-year-old boy in an unincorporated area near Hemet.
Francisco Roy Zavala Jr, 20, of Hemet and 17-year-old and 15-year-old juveniles have each been charged with murder and a special circumstance of murder during the commission of a robbery.
Zavala also has an enhancement alleged that he personally used a deadly weapon.
The two juveniles are being charged as adults in this case.
All three are scheduled to be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. in Dept. S201 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
The three defendants are charged in the Jan. 14 stabbing death of 16-year-old Eric Ronald Sargeant Jr. in the area of Acacia Avenue and Cherrywood Drive in East Hemet.
The three defendants are accused of committing the murder while attempting to rob the victim of a cell phone. Sargeant was stabbed multiple times and died hours later at an area hospital.
No further information about the crime is being released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
The case, SWF1300713, is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Daniel DeLimon of the DA’s Homicide Unit.

I thought the mayor of Hemet had said that the fight was NOT over a cell phone? anyone know if that is true?
