Firefighters rescue three people near swollen river

Firefighters today helped three people get off of an embankment of the rain-swollen Los Angeles River in the Cypress Park area today.

Rescue personnel were sent to the river near the 2400 block of Glover Place shortly after 10 a.m. on a report of a person in the water, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Arriving personnel did not find anyone in the water, but spotted three people — who were unharmed — on the embankment and helped them to safety, Scott said.

Crews found no other people needing help in the area.
