San Jacinto: Pair arrested on suspicion of car theft

Two people are in custody after officers found the pair sitting in a stolen car, it was reported.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, San Jacinto Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team officers were looking into a report of a suspicious vehicle at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23 in the 100 block of S. Ramona Bl., in San Jacinto.

“The vehicle was occupied and a records check revealed the vehicle had been previously reported stolen. The female driver and male passenger were detained,” said Sgt. Joey Nardone in the report.

Nuevo resident Dusty Dorsten, 32, and 21-year-old Channing Halley of Riverside were taken into custody and booked at Smith Correctional Facility, officials said.

Dorsten was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession for sales of methamphetamine, under the influence of narcotics, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and parole violations.

Halley was arrested for possession for sales of methamphetamine and under the influence of narcotics.
